Bedroom Waltz (Work-in-progress) ©2010

Bedroom Waltz is a video incorporated into a sculpture. A five-inch LCD monitor sits atop a five-foot pole, with a wire house suspended over the monitor. Peering through the door of the wire house, the viewer may watch the video unfold. A music-box couple waltzes to the music box tune, “Honeymoon Waltz”, while alternating with the image of the couple, a miniature bed appears. As the couple dances and the music box unwinds, their arms and legs slowly become disentangled, and they fall apart. Echoing this gesture, the bed slowly appears to unmake itself until it is only a bare mattress. The duality of these images is both sweet and sad; the wire house is both a home and a cage-like prison, encompassing a romantic relationship unraveling.Mixed-media video installation with 5-inch LCD monitor on a pole and wire cage, with audio.
